Is AI Taking Over? Not Yet—But It Sure Can Help!

Right now, the answer is no. AI is still too new and has too many flaws to run unchecked without human oversight. However, AI can take on tasks that most people don’t want to do—those monotonous, mind-numbing jobs that bore us to death. While AI is great for automating repetitive tasks, it still requires supervision because it has a tendency to “hallucinate” and generate incorrect or misleading information.

There are many AI tools available today. A great resource for finding the perfect tool is There’s An AI For That. If you’re just looking for a basic chatbot, options like Claude AI, ChatGPT, CoPilot, and many others offer free trials, so you can test them out for yourself.

How I Use AI in My Daily Life

I use AI both personally and professionally to make life a little easier. I don’t want to be a slave to my house or my job, so I welcome a little extra help. For example, I can toss some ingredients into ChatGPT along with a few instructions, and it will generate a simple recipe. If I’m feeling adventurous, I can even ask it to create a full meal plan for the week.

Another great personal use case for AI is writing. As a busy person, sitting down to draft emails can be a challenge. AI-powered voice-to-text helps me capture my thoughts quickly, corrects spelling, and adds punctuation. It even condenses my ramblings when I get too wordy. There are countless ways AI can assist at home—just ask it, and you’ll likely be surprised at what it can do. (See the image below)

AI at Work: A Powerful Assistant

At work, I use AI to help draft emails, ensuring clarity when explaining complex problems or translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences. It also comes in handy when writing technical documentation.

Beyond writing, AI assists me in optimizing Python and Snowflake SQL code, suggesting improvements for efficiency and performance. It even helps me break down large tasks into smaller, more manageable steps—something incredibly useful for project planning.

The Future of AI: What’s Next?

Don’t get me wrong—AI will continue to evolve and become capable of much more. But rather than replacing humans outright, I believe it will enhance our communities by offloading tedious work while creating new job opportunities. The demand for tech professionals isn’t going away anytime soon. Even if we build robots to wash dishes and fold laundry, someone will still need to program and repair them.

For now, we can rest easy knowing that AI isn’t the biggest threat to our jobs. And really, who wouldn’t want to spend their weekends relaxing while a robot mops the floors and cooks dinner?
